Karadan Lands is a mixed-use building project sectioned into three different layers of privacy, the bottom floor being the retail, the floor above being the commercial and the topmost being the residence. We indulged in a style of modern contemporary greatly inspired by art deco and a hint of classical with the varying floor designs pitted against raw concrete and marble-clad walls. We designed the fenestration to take a parametric form resembling the waves of the sea, an ode to the location of the building – Kozhikode (highly famous for its beaches), and also act as a barrier against the otherwise scorching climate of Kerala.

The aim of the project was to create a desirable place to live that balances usable private space with high quality public space.
